What If We Focused On…?
"I'm not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends… I've got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward - to Jesus. I'm off and running, and I'm not turning back.
So let's keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision - you'll see it yet! Now that we're on the right track, let's stay on it." -The Apostle PaulDid you make any New Year resolutions? Recent polls show that more than 50% of Americans vow to “appreciate loved ones and spend more time with family and friends this year” making it the number one resolution of 2012. While this is a noble goal, if past statistics run true, this resolution like most will fail. Albert Einstein
speaks to the heart of failed resolutions in his famous quote: "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." We set goals for a better and brighter future without changing anything. Too often we give up at the first sign of failure.
But there is grace, Paul reminds us, because we don’t have to get it right every time. We just need to get on the right track. The real change required is changing our focus. Yesterday’s priorities can blur our vision, but if we commit ourselves to staying focused on the goal of receiving all that God has for us, then we’ll be off and running!
Bishop Gregory V. Palmer shares that we should focus on tomorrow as a new day; begin it well by setting aside old nonsense and then finish every day and be done with it. “You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt have crept in; forget them as soon as you can.” - Bishop Gregory V. Palmer

Let’s resolve together to keep our eye on the goal so that we can fulfill our mission as a church of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.Pastor,
